TOKYO: Taufan dengan angin sederas 144 kilometer sejam semakin menghampiri ibu kota Jepun semalam menyebabkan penerbangan dibatalkan dan pihak berkuasa mengeluarkan amaran hujan lebat dan ombak besar di banyak kawasan negara itu.

Taufan Mawar semakin menghampiri Pulau Honshu dengan kadar kemaraan 15 kilometer sejam, kata Agensi Kaji Cuaca Jepun.

Pada jam 5 petang Mawar dikesan kira-kira 100 kilometer ke barat daya Omaezaki, kira-kira 180 kilometer ke barat daya Tokyo, lapor agensi itu.

Ribut dijangka melanda pantai pulau utama Jepun yang menghadap ke lautan Pasifik itu antara lewat malam tadi dan pagi ini, lapor agensi itu sambil memberi amaran angin kencang serta ombak besar.

“Oleh kerana kadar kemaraan taufan ini agak perlahan, dibimbangi hujan lebat dan angin kencang mungkin berlaku di kawasan taufan itu melanda,” kata seorang jurucakap agensi itu. – AFP/AP
